With Scheepjes bonbon white ch 28 for #5, ch 26 for #0

Place the chains on the icon and sew in a few stiches so the number keeps in place.

At this stage the icon is ready. I personally prefer to firm up my work whenever I like to create sharp edges. From a carton box (empty lasagna box in particular) I cut a rectangle of 7×3,5×3,5cm and a rectangle of 2,5×2,5×2,5 cm. this I put in the body and filled it tightly with fiber filling before I slip stitched the parts together.

Cut from the pink felt 2 strips of 1cm x 2,5cm. From the middle of the top draw slightly bows to the right and left bottom corners. Cut the inner ears and sew or glue it onto the outer ears.

King’s day wreath

King’s day wreath

This is the second time in my life I have to miss out on King’s day. I have to miss out on the larged flea market of the year, of the country and perhaps it might as well be the largest flea market anywhere in the world.

Once a year the entire country is in a party mood. from morning till late, if you are old or still a baby, if there is rain or sunshine. If you have never experienced it, this should be on your bucket list.

So in the weeks before King’s day I already got the orange fever. I couldn’t think of anything else than orange and anything Dutch.

Below you will find the instructions to crochet the typical Dutch house, the stroof waffles and the oranges with golden leafs. This projects wasn’t difficult and with the different elements you can go crazy as you wish.

When you work back to the first ch you sc 14 white and 4 blue). Please make sure the thread you are not using is always at the back side of your work.

Le Macaron

Le Macaron

This looks like a perfect set of materials for a macaron, but honestly this is a mix and match of my leftover yarns.

The dark pink is from Stylecraft yarns Classique Cotton collection (color Shrimp) and the blush pink yarn is from DMC Just Natura cotton (color N06).

The Guterman threats is one of my many materials in my attempt of finding my talent in embroidery many years ago. (I failed miserably though).

The finished size is approximately 4,5cm diameter x 2,5cm high.

I used crochet hook from Clover size 3.0.

Meringue (make 2)

With pink, ch 4, join with slip st to form a ring. Alternatively make a magic ring.

R1: Ch 1, 6sc in ring, join with slip st to first sc.

After round 9, fill the meringue lightly. you need to do this only for the top meringue.

R10: Ch 1, sc2tog in each sc around, finish off (6sc).

Filling:

With blush, ch 4, join with slip st to form a ring. Alternatively make a magic ring.

R1: Ch 1, 6sc in ring, join with slip st to first sc.

R2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc, join with slip st to first sc (12sc).

R3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc, repeat 5x, join with slip st to first sc (18sc).

R6: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, finish off (30sc).

Sew the filling between both meringues.

Please note that for the DMC just cotton jarn I made 2 extra rounds (ending with 36sc)because of the difference in yarn size.

For the other macarons I mixed the yarns from Phildar Phil Coton 4 and Stylecraft Classique Cotton Collection.
