This is the second time in my life I have to miss out on King’s day. I have to miss out on the larged flea market of the year, of the country and perhaps it might as well be the largest flea market anywhere in the world.
Once a year the entire country is in a party mood. from morning till late, if you are old or still a baby, if there is rain or sunshine. If you have never experienced it, this should be on your bucket list.
So in the weeks before King’s day I already got the orange fever. I couldn’t think of anything else than orange and anything Dutch.
Below you will find the instructions to crochet the typical Dutch house, the stroof waffles and the oranges with golden leafs. This projects wasn’t difficult and with the different elements you can go crazy as you wish.
House
Materials & tools:
DMC Natura Just Cotton (N36) Gardenia
DMC Natura Just Cotton (N53) Blue Night
Crochet hook size 2.0
Large embroidery needle
The house is not worked in rounds to create the sharp edges. It contains 3 pieces and I whip stiched them together. The rows mentioned in the instructions are the front side of the work. When you work back to the front you mirror the color (for example: with the first row you sc 4 blue and 14 white. When you work back to the first ch you sc 14 white and 4 blue). Please make sure the thread you are not using is always at the back side of your work.
