When I was around 6 years old, my mother taught me how to knit. I knitted a mini blanket, the size for a doll (there it was already, my love for small things), and scarfs. My interest faded and I never touched a knitting needle again and now I cannot knit at all anymore. I never even touched yarn again until I was pregnant with my first-born in 2012. Unfortunately I never had the nesting urge, instead crochet was the closest form of nesting.
In 2014 I was brand new on Instagram and I saw mainly fabulous lives in front of a camera. Being the opposite of it I thought to use Instagram as a diary and wanted to share the less glamorous side of the Insta life. And made small items to support little stories as a newly mom, the office life and travel experiences. The miniatures were at first purely a tactical decision. With two kids and a job there was not much time left to crochet. The smaller the items, the quicker, which equals more posts I thought. But I couldn’t be more far off on that!
My purpose with my designs is to show people that there is so much more you can create with crochet and personalize that with my absolutely-not-so-glamorous life experiences. I hope this relates to you, my fellow crocheters, or at least give you a laugh.
